Description
Stunning 2+ Inches (5.1 cm) Asaphiscus wheeleri trilobite from the Middle Cambrian rocks of Nevada. This specimen is from the dwindling stock of the Red Beds locality, known for producing extremely colorful and very well preserved specimens. This specimen sits on red and green matrix and is perfect. Examples of enrolled Elrathia kingii and Bolaspidella housensis trilobites are also present. The Asaphiscus is exceptionally preserved, with a gray/green exoskeleton with orange and red highlights from beneath peeking through. A series of small dots appear on the axial lobe of the thorax and are especially noticeable on axial lobe of the pygidium. These likely correspond to muscle attachments beneath.
