Description

An undetermined and very well preserved Bolaspidella species from the upper Wheeler Shale of the House Range, Utah. ย Other Bolaspidella species in this unit (B. housensis, B. drumensis) have multiple long axial spines, whereas this individual is lacking them. ย Little scientific work has been done to definitively sort out the ptychoparid trilobites of the Middle Cambrian of Utah.

The plate is attractive and also contains bits and pieces of other trilobites and agnostids as well as small red clumps of branching structures identified as Marpolia spissa, an algae or cyanobacteria.
