Description
A rare offering of a big 5.4 cm Asaphiscus wheeleri from the famous Middle Cambrian red beds of Utah. These colorful pieces from this locality are a stark contrast from the more common black on gray specimens. The specimen has hues of red and orange on black exoskeleton, centered on pink matrix with blue and green zones to the top of the trilobite. The Asaphiscus is perfect, showing a faint gut trace (digestive tract) beneath the cephalon. Bits and pieces of small agnostic trilobites are scattered around the Asaphiscus. Specimens from this locality were always hard to obtain, but have all but disappeared in recent years. Complete Asaphiscus with cheeks over 2 inches are hard to come by.
