Description
Highly sought after 6.5 cm Olenoides nevadensis trilobite from the Middle Cambrian rocks of Utah. These rare Corynexochid trilobites are legendary for their spiny morphology and association to the Burgess Shale site. This specimen is a textbook example, perfectly prone, with full rack of standing spines running the length of its thorax. The trilobite sits on a nice tan block of Wheeler Formation limestone, with black exoskeleton and orange highlights peeking through. There is some pathology to the right side of the trilobite with slight growth deformation and one pleural spine which has grown short and wide. With only a few specimens available each year, Olenoides trilobites are often collection centerpieces.
