Massive Olenellus nevadensis! Rare Species OUT OF STOCK

In the lowest reaches of the Lower Cambrian rocks of the Pioche Shale in Nevada lurks an incredible trilobite fauna. Occurring with Bristolia and Olenellus fremonti, the lesser known Olenellus nevadensis also reaches very large sizes. This 9.3 cm example is nearly perfect, showcasing its longer more delicate spines than other Olenellus types. This is one of the best combinations of size and quality we’ve seen of this species. An intrusion of muscovite (mica) laden, coarse sediment slices through the tip of the trilobite’s head, and again through the first few segments on the right side of the trilobite. This sediment is gray to pink with sparkling particles when the light catches them. This is a large, formidable specimen in person. Found in the late 90’s.
