Description
A high contrast 7.2 cm beautiful Olenellus nevadensis from the Lower Cambrian rocks of Nevada. Olenellus nevadensis occurs with Bristolia trilobites and is equally as rare. This beautiful specimen was found in the early 2000’s and is nicely situated on a slab of silty Pioche Shale mudstone. Premium examples of this species are very difficult to come by. This specimen is extremely aesthetic, featuring the faint bluish-gray hues the zone that produced these was so well known for. It features an abbreviated glabella, small secondary genal spines (intergenals), a robust telson (tail spine), and a briskly tapering thorax with long pleural spines. This is an exceptional example of the species and a show stopper in person.
