Description
An outstanding 2.6 cm example of the classic Lower Cambrian species Olenellus gilberti from the High Desert of Nevada.ย This specimen is absolutely stunning in its color and detail. The inflated glabella has been selectively replaced with iron, as has the cephalic border, many of the pleura and the telson. The telson is incredibly long and well preserved on this example, with the fine, very sharp point intact. The plate is very aesthetic with many dendritic crystal growths scattered about. Two interesting sponge spicules are present at the lower-most right portion of the plate. These are likely from Chancelloriad sponges based on their cross shapes.ย
Age: Lower Cambrian
