Description
A perfect 2.7 cm Olenellus chiefensis from the Lower Cambrian Pioche Shale of Nevada. This curved specimen sits in life-like pose on a squared up piece of matrix. It is zoned in defined orange and brown color separated down the length of the specimen. The bi-color zones are caused by oxidized iron and other minerals expressed in the rock, making for unusual but striking aesthetics. The trilobite is perfect showing the unusual elongated cephalon and long sweeping spines the species is so well known for. The long telson (tail spine) makes for a nice whip-like appearance. Excellent specimen.
