Description

A famous fossil, known primarily from the Burgess Shale site, this example comes preserved in vivid red from Utah. ย Margarita is currently interpreted as an algae. It is frondose in appearance, with its surface peppered with a range of parallel oval holes. ย Considering the low preservation potential of algal fossils, it’s nothing short of incredible that these Middle Cambrian examples are so well preserved.
