Description
A famous fossil, known primarily from the Burgess Shale site, this example comes preserved in vivid red from Utah. Margarita is currently interpreted as an algae. It is frondose in appearance, with its surface peppered with a range of parallel oval holes. Considering the low preservation potential of algal fossils, it’s nothing short of incredible that these Middle Cambrian examples are so well preserved.
