Description

These are the oldest complete trilobites ever found in North America! ย While a few other species are slightly older, only fragments of those have ever been found. ย Beneath the rocks containing these Fallotaspids, there is not much with regard to evidence of life.

This Eofallotaspis is measures 2.2cm and differs from other Eofallotaspis in nearby outcrops as has a small axial spine, emerging from the last segment before the button-like pygidium. ย In these specimens the pygidium is always rolled beneath.

Eofallotaspis from this zone are highly sought after. ย Good specimens are very difficult to obtain, with exceptional pieces like this very rare. ย Outstanding display specimen!

Further notes: ย “Archaeaspis macropleuron” is often used incorrectly on these Eofallotaspis sp. specimens. ย To avoid this confusion, please refer to the original 2002 Journal Paleontology describes and figures Archaeaspis (last photo) as a considerably different trilobite. ย
