Description
A perfect 3 cm pyritized mitrate carpoid fossil from the Hunsrück Slate of Germany. This example of Rhenocystis latipedunculata is one of the best examples we’ve seen, rivaling the specimen featured in the definitve book on the Hunsruck Slate “Visions of a Vanished World” by Kuhl & Briggs (2012, Yale University Press). Most of the localities producing Hunsruck material have long been closed or have become unproductive. Premium specimens have become very hard to come by.
