Description
Few fossils are more sought after than the extremely rare, some would say “mythical”, Bristolia insolens trilobite. Bristolia insolens features highly unusual ram-horn-esque genal spines emanating from the front of the cephalon, a small thorax and a rather large secondary thorax (opistothorax) situated beneath the tail spine. Complete examples of this species may number as few as a dozen, with truly exceptional specimens such as this one even less so. This specimen measures 3.5 cm and features perfect anatomy including the large, complete opistothorax. One is hard pressed to find a better example of this species. No restoration.
