Description

An unusual grasping appendage with a bulbous front process and double sided spines from the Weeks Formation of Utah. ย The segmentation on this appendage is most similar to Stanleycaris, with the odd addition of a rounded front segment. ย Spine-like setae extend from the appendage on both sides, a characteristic of Stanleycarids. ย The Weeks Formation is poorly studied with many soft tissue fossils such as this one remaining a mystery to their exact affinities. ย  Stanleycaris is closely related to Anomalocaris.
