Description
A nice Genevievella granulatus from the exposed Weeks Formation in the canyons beneath Notch Peak on Saw Tooth Mountain, Millard County, Utah. This reddish-black specimen is situated on a light purple matrix. The species is known for its attractive axial spine toward the rear of the thorax on the 7th segment. Weeks Formation trilobites are sought after due to their stark departure from the morphological characteristics of their more typical Middle Cambrian ancestors like Elrathia and Asaphiscus. While Weeks Formation material is somewhat common, good specimens are scarce, as with most North American material.
