Description
An incredibly preserved 1.4cm ventral Triarthrus trilobite featuring the finest soft tissue preservation available. The detail in this specimen is simply jaw dropping! The specimen has 3 very clear visible eggs, along with outstanding cephalic anatomy and thoracic appendages. The gnathobases form a formidable set of crushing tools which the trilobite used to process prey and other food items it may have scavenged. Other standout anatomy on this specimen include the muscular bundles which operated the antennae, a perfect hypos tome, complete with the secondary palette some have referred to as the “metastome”, as well as gill filaments used for swimming and respiration and claw tipped walking legs. An outstanding specimen! Just a few per year become available.
*A second partial Triarthrus ventral is just to the lower left.
