Description
One of the oldest complete trilobites available from North America. One would be hard pressed to find an example of this species approaching the quality of this specimen. This trilobite appeared around 520 million years ago, laying the foundation for what would blossom into 20,000+ species and over 200 million years of survival. It is literally one of the first trilobites that started it all.
Excellent display specimen. The matrix has a book-like appearance.
Further notes: “Archaeaspis macropleuron” is often used incorrectly on these Eofallotaspis sp. specimens. To avoid this confusion, please refer to the original 2002 Journal Paleontology describes and figures Archaeaspis (last photo) as a considerably different trilobite.
