Description
Highly sought after Bristolia bristolensis from the Lower Cambrian rocks of Nevada. Bristolia are very early trilobites, beloved by collectors for their archaic long, sweeping spines and graceful appearance. Rarely found complete, these trilobites are often frustrating to acquire, especially fine specimens. This specimen is an outstanding, very crisp example, measuring 4.7 cm including the telson. The right macro pleural spine has grown extra long on this individual, making for a nice genetic anomaly. The opistothorax (secondary thorax) is complete and also present, partly obscured beneath the thick base of the telson (tail spine) but shows at least 10 segments visible. A large cephalon of another Bristolia bristolensis is in close association, making for a very aesthetic piece.
