Delivery Details & Returns Procedure

Our primary delivery carrier is USPS. If you prefer to change the method to UPS, DHL, or Fedex please contact us and we will provide this option within 24 hours. During checkout, clients are free to choose their desired shipping method. Unless specified, we select the most cost-effective option based on the items ordered.

Once an order is received, we strive to dispatch it within 1-3 business days. Some orders, especially containing large or delicate items, might take a little longer. However, orders placed before 1:00 pm US Pacific time are often dispatched on the same day.

To find out the approximate shipping cost of an item or items, simply add the items to your cart and use the “Add/Change Address” feature.

Please note, the delivery timeframe we provide is an estimated period and may be affected by factors beyond our control like weather conditions, postal delays etc. Although we can’t guarantee a specific delivery date, rest assured that 95% of our packages are delivered within the estimated window.

Once your order leaves our store, shipping and customs delays are unfortunately beyond our control, meaning we cannot guarantee exact delivery times. In certain EU countries, customs clearance may take up to 1-2 months. While we cannot influence this process directly, we are happy to assist by reaching out to help expedite the resolution wherever possible.

Unfortunately, our preferred carriers are unable to deliver to a few countries due to exceptionally high rates of package loss. If your country is not listed as an available destination, please contact us.

Shipping Coverage

Even with the utmost care, the possibility of a package getting damaged or lost during transit cannot be eliminated. In order to compensate for such rare occurrences, we self-insure all our packages. This means in case of lost or damaged items, we have funds set aside to take care of the refund, or a replacement can be mutually arranged.

For a package to be eligible for a refund, we wait for 30 business days for domestic orders and 60 days for international ones, as often carriers manage to locate and deliver the missing orders.

Returns and Refunds

Our return policy allows customers to return any item bought from us within 30 days of purchase, for any reason. The refund, however, does not cover shipping costs or credit card processing fees (currently 3%) unless the return is due to an error on our part or loss/damage during shipping. Alternatively, the refund can be taken as store credit which will include the credit card processing fees. Refunds or credits are issued once the returned item is received.

Customs Clearance, Duties and Import Charges

Customs clearance fees and import charges may apply to goods entering a destination country, determined by the value of the items being shipped. It is the buyer’s responsibility to cover these duties and fees.

Since each country establishes its own customs regulations and import thresholds, which can vary widely, Fossils After Dark is unable to provide specific details about these charges.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding customs fees, import duties, or clearance times, we recommend reaching out to the customs office or embassy of the destination country. Their official websites are also a valuable resource for detailed guidelines.

Cancellation of Order

In case you need to cancel an order before it’s dispatched, reach out to us at fossilsafterdark@gmail.com. Refunds will be made via the original payment method or issued as store credit, excluding the credit card processing fees (currently 3%) unless taken as store credit.

Combining Orders

We facilitate combining multiple orders to help you save on shipping costs. Simply let us know by leaving a note in the instructions field on your orders that you’d like them combined. We’ll merge them and refund any difference between the amount paid and the actual shipping cost.
