Description
With most specimens from this historic site measuring just one centimeter, this massive ventral specimen measures over 4 times that size at 4.6 cm! This specimen is very close to the maximum size for this species and features some of the finest soft tissue preservation we’ve seen to date. Near perfect long, inward curving antennae indicate the range Triarthrus as able to feel out as it searched the muddy substrate for small prey items and likely detritus. The legs on this specimen feature well preserved gill filaments and claw tips. The gnathobases, similar to mandibles, feature rare setae or spine-tips usually not preserved. Along with two clutches of eggs on either side of the cephalon, an open intestine tube near the mouth is easily seen, likely cross sectioned by the preparation process. This is an incredible specimen and rare offering.
