A perfect 4.8 cm Olenellus chiefensis from the Chief Range of Nevada, USA. This specimen features extremely narrow genal spines, demonstrating the variation within the same species. Olenelids of the same species often show varying morphological characteristics due to regional group development, genetic anomalies, pathology etc. This specimen is impressive, complete with a long pygidia spine or telson. The slightly stretched, elongated cephalon of this species is unmistakable.
